I honestly thought I'd never use this tapedeck again. It's been sitting in the back of the closet for 20 years. My brother and I each bought one after our grandmother passed away; we had inherited a few hundred dollars each.
I'd heard about the comeback of cassettes and thought it to be a bit naive and silly. However, after watching a video about the cultural importance of the audio cassette, I had no choice but to agree. There's nothing quite like compact cassettes and cassette culture.
I came across duplication.ca out of Toronto. Having no idea where to go with this, I looked through the available cassettes and ordered 25 of the transparent fluorescent cassettes and cases, thinking, "these will be fun!"
So... now it's 2024, and I have something else to work with. :)
Audio cassettes fit nicely into my art philosophy.
The degradation of the cassette is the art.
They have a life.
